Ever get caught up in the comparison game? comparing cloths, home, cars, jobs, money, Social media followers etc... Many people get caught up in this trap because we live in a world that measures our success in life by what we have. We have always been compared to others. Even at the young school age our academics are measured by others achievements within our age and grade group. This comparisons game creates what is called the Social Comparison Theory in which our own social and personal self worth is determined by comparing ourselves to others. This can become dangerous to ones
mental health as it can cause envy, low self-confidence, and depression. All that wreaks havoc on our mental health which can eventually effect total body health.
Success can't be measured by what other can and are doing because we are all different. It's like comparing apples to oranges. It has to be measured by our own capabilities as we all have different unique journeys in life and we must embrace the path we are on, always striving to be better than we were the day before. We should not concern ourselves with what others are doing for they are on their own journey.
This understanding enables us to let go of the baggage we hold on our backs, weighing us down as we no longer have to live up to the standards based on others journeys. And once we let go, only then can we go full speed ahead on the path that was created specifically for us, creating a more healthy mind and body.
" But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden."Galatians 6:4-5 (KJV)
